Kliniken Schmieder

Kliniken Schmieder are a family-run hospital group specialised in neurology and neurological rehabilitation with six locations in Baden-Württemberg. In our two hospitals in Allensbach and Heidelberg, we offer patients from all over the world high-quality and individual treatment tailored to their needs. Prof. Dr. Friedrich Schmieder, who is considered a pioneer and forerunner in neurological rehabilitation, founded the first hospital in 1950. Today, over 14,000 patients with neurological diseases of all types and degrees of severity are treated annually at Kliniken Schmieder.

The aim is to provide patients with the best possible treatment based on the latest scientific findings. Therefore, the hospital has its own training centre and a research institute in cooperation with the University of Constance. The hospital offers the entire treatment spectrum of neurological rehabilitation: from acute treatment to early rehabilitation and post-primary rehabilitation, patients undergo the entire treatment chain in one hospital. Patients come from all over the world to Germany for their treatment at Kliniken Schmieder. For this reason, the hospitals in Allensbach and Heidelberg have international wards with comfort rooms, multilingual staff, and culture-specific features (e.g. offers during Ramadan).

The Department of Radiology and Neuroradiology, the Centre for Sleep Medicine, and the Brain Stimulation Centre offer comprehensive diagnostic and treatment options for neurological diseases of all types and severities. The International Office of the hospital is available to patients and their families before and during their stay and supports them in all non-medical matters related to their stay. The staff speak German, English, Russian, and Arabic. In Allensbach, relatives have the option of renting an apartment on the hospital grounds for the duration of the treatment.

Under certain circumstances, it is also possible to stay overnight in the patient's room. In addition, there is a wide range of medical and therapeutic services that can also be used by family members. Our International Office is also happy to help with the organisation of leisure activities.
